Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Ophthalmology Surgical Instruments Sales Representative (Eastern Canada) targeting the institutional and private side of the business – primarily hospitals, surgery centers and clinics that are purchasers of surgical instruments and consumables

Job Description

  • Spearheads the selling of Ophthalmology Surgical Instruments in accordance with budgeted objectives and to obtain maximum profitability and volume in relation to preset standards
  • Promotes and sells Ophthalmology Surgical Instruments
  • Educates and informs doctors, nurses, and appropriate staff personnel about our products
  • Directs product evaluations in OR and office settings
  • Cold calling and developing prospect lists
  • Research accounts and determine appropriate messaging and sales angles
  • Assist in the preparation and operation of trade shows, conventions, and/or clinical meetings
  • Solves product problems for customers in an expeditious fashion
  • Managing and maintaining a sample inventory of products


  • Ability to carry and lift boxes that might weight up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to communicate with large groups of people
  • Must be able to communicate telephonically
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Overnight travel may be required. Must be able to drive and must have valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to routinely negotiate price and terms of transactions between us and our customers
  • Must be able to readily solve customer complaints Must have fundamental command of all products and can disseminate this knowledge to the customer
  • Must be able to analyze territory market potential prioritize call patterns accordingly
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • 2-3 years of experience in surgical instruments sales (Preferred Ophthalmology)
  • Experience in Retinal and Glaucoma products an asset
  • Fluently bilingual (French/English) an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
  • Professional attitude and outlook.
